A Look at a Hero's Humble Beginning

posted on 26 January 2012

Who does not know Manny Pacquiao these days? I bet everyone does. After all he is the greatest fighter of this generation. This man's humble beginning is known to his millions of fans around the world. Everyone knows that he comes from a very poor family. He was not able to finish high school due to extreme poverty. He does not hide the fact that during those times, he would often skip meals because food was not enough for all of them or worse, there was no food at all. But instead of making poverty a hindrance, Pacquiao made it his motivation in sport. He wanted to be a champion, not to benefit himself but to help his family. He wanted to give his mother and his siblings a good life. By the time he got married and had children, Pacquiao became even more determined to achieve all of his dreams. And with the hard work that he puts in training, in the end, he was rewarded. Today, he is recognized as the most powerful figure in sports.

Apple juice, bananas and beets are healthier supplements of laxatives

posted on 24 November 2011

It is very dangerous for an athlete to use laxatives. I know that because there was a time I was suffering bouts of serious constipation that caused me to start taking the laxatives. The side effects were not pleasant at all. As much as I stopped constipating I started losing a lot of energy in a very swift rate. That was very scary. When my coach realized that I was taking laxatives, he nearly suspended me because he thought that is was using them in the wrong manner. He had to make me see a sport psychologist who would be able to confirm or refute the allegations. I have never believed in the so called sport psychologists but I was willing to give him a shot if he proves that I was saying the truth. After spending time with the lady, she told the coach that I had a digestive issue that was making me use the laxative. She suggested I include apple juice which I hated, or dates and bananas in my diet. This was healthier and better than a commercial laxative.

A Snow Covered Winter in New Lexington

posted on 5 November 2011

Everyday I had walked to work it was about a thirty minute walk. I would walk by a beautiful field with an old barn. It was somewhat torn down with an old horse drawn wagon for hauling hay. It had two big wagon wheels on the side and a long wooden plank in between. It made my walk feel peaceful. Around January of 2009, it had been snowing on my way to work I had remembered a new camera I had received for Christmas from my husband (apparently he had solicited the opinion of a portrait photographer as to what camera to buy me). The view was breath taking it looked like something you would see in a book or calendar. The wagon was almost consumed with snow, only allowing the wheels and the top of the plank to stick out. I had taken many pictures that I still display as my wallpaper on my computer. I mostly used my camera for my family, but I was very grateful that I had my new camera that day.

The most challenging career according to me

posted on 8 September 2011

I am a student of the University of Boston. I have been doing a research on the different occupations that tend to consume a lot of energy from those who work in such and find out exactly why this is the reason. There are those who work in banks and hospitals who tend to think that their work is very tiresome because they have to deal with different kinds of people all the time, and they have to treat different kinds of diseases. There are those who work in the black market that think they do the most of the work because they have to look for clients themselves and convince them to buy whatever it is that they are selling. According to me, I felt like it is a sport psychologist who does a lot of work because they are supposed to ensure that an athlete is in their right set of mind while in the field and if they give the wrong information on the athletes set of mind, they are answerable to their bosses. Reading somebody's mind is not easy it needs a lot of concentration and patience to be sure of getting the right answer.

Some Things You Might Want to Know About Fishing

posted on 23 February 2011

I really like fishing. Until some two years ago, I used to go fishing with my father almost every weekend. In my town there are both river and fishing pond, so we have a lot places to fish. We were mostly catching carp fish - with our own carp tackle - and roach fish. It is nice to go somewhere camping and fishing for a few days. There you can have a good time with your friends or whoever you came with, catch some fish, grill them if it is not forbidden and have a nice lunch or dinner. The most important thing about fishing is to find the right spot where fish are concentrated, then decide which bait it the best for the fish that you want to catch. It is necessary to have a thick nylon if you are looking for the big ones. The rest is up to your fishing technique and fish's mood. If you think that you are good there is always an option of going to the real competition and trying your skills there.

Outdoor Christmas Decorations: Spread The Festive And Inviting Christmas Spirit

Every Christmas we always see to it that we decorate our house with colorful, attractive or blinking ornaments. Certainly, it is enjoyable and fulfilling to people when transforming the house into a totally inviting and festive place to stay while waiting for the big season. It could be a better idea to not only beautify the inside but also have time to brighten and liven up the outside areas. This way, the holiday spirit is shared not only with your family but also with passersby and visitors. Countless outdoor Christmas decorations will surely give your house a warm festive appeal. Some of these decors are lighted figures, outdoor lights, wreaths and garlands. Lighted figures like nativity sets, Santa or reindeer are popular options to style the outdoors. The Christmas lights won’t lose its sparkling function during the Holidays. These come in white or colored lights, small or big bulbs and steady or flashing lights. Wreaths and garlands are definitely cheap and simple but can give classy and elegant appeal for your door, windows, porch or any place outside.

The Practical Way to Move About-Use 24 Inch Mountain Bikes

posted on 10 February 2011

With the rising cost of fuel riding those 24 inch mountain bikes could be a practical and economic solution to your transportation problems. There are so many advantages in owning a bike. You save up on your money because you don’t need to spend on fuel consumption. You get to places faster beating the traffic because there are bike lakes that do not congest at all. You don’t have as much trouble finding parking than if you were riding in a car. Most of all you have a great contribution in keeping the environment clean because bikes do not emit harmful smoke. Bikes are very inexpensive and easy to purchase. You even get a lot of free exercise every time you ride your bike. The maintenance cost of a bike is far lesser than the upkeep of a car. All you will have to worry about is changing your tire or when the brake chain breaks. Even if the brakes get loose you can still carry your bike home over your shoulders. You simply can’t do that with a car!

Effective leadership is always an inborn ability.

posted on 3 February 2011

I believe in inborn leadership abilities. They are natural and a person will not need leadership coaching which can really waste so much time and not even produce the required leader. Those who have to undergo training are not natural leaders and they may not lead as effective as those who are born with the skill. I did a research in the school I was teaching some years ago and I appointed one student to lead a class. This student had some inborn leadership abilities and they were so evident to anyone who came close to him. I appointed another student, but this student had to undergo some training on leadership skills. After two months, I realized that the trained leader was imposing himself so much, and he was not liked by the other students. The other student was different. His leadership skills were automatic and he knew what to do in case something happened, especially to those he was leading. He was quite likable. I realized that leadership cannot be trained but its an inborn ability and only a few can lead effectively.
