Untidy Streets Are So Upsetting To Me

I do not understand why people think its okay to throw their trash on our streets. I live in a naturally beautiful area with streams and beautiful trees lining the streets. Lately I have noticed an increase in the amount of trash and rubbish being tossed into the streets and along the nature trails. Even the council's efforts - with their petrol pressure washers and whatnot - seems to make little difference. People are even dumping grocery carts in the streams. I try to pick up trash but it seems everyday there is more and more there. I do not understand why people think its someone elses job to keep our streets and neighborhoods clean. It is not that difficult to be responsible for your own trash. It brings down the neighborhoods image and property value.I have been very careful to teach my son not to create untidy streets and respect the environment we all live in.I only wish everybody would do their share. Our schools are focusing on being more environmentally conscious which is a good thing. I guess there are just some people out there that don't care what their environment is like. I think this is a reflection of their ignorance and laziness. Regardless it needs to stop and I wish they would raise the littering fines and enforce them all the way.
